

ABPmer extends Metocean team with key hires
We are pleased to announce that experienced metocean specialists Robin Stephens, Dr Ian Wade and Dr Sarah Taws have joined the company.
Leading marine consultancy, ABPmer, has today announced that Robin Stephens, Dr Ian Wade and Dr Sarah Taws have joined their Metocean team.
The appointment of these experienced metocean specialists reflects the company’s focus on broadening its metocean consultancy service and will enable it to scale operations whilst meeting the increasing global demand for its metocean data and associated services.
Robin Stephens – Head of Metocean Consulting - is one of the UK’s most experienced metocean specialists. In a career spanning four decades, Robin has been at the forefront of providing metocean solutions worldwide for a diverse range of client sectors including oil and gas, renewables, and the nuclear industry. Robin joins ABPmer from BMT Argoss where he was Head of Metocean Consulting and will be based at ABPmer’s Southampton office.
Dr Ian Wade – Principal Metocean Consultant - has more than 20 years of international commercial oceanographic experience, specialising mostly in servicing the offshore oil and gas sector. Ian joins ABPmer from BMT Argoss where he was Principal Metocean Specialist. Ian has authored over 250 technical metocean reports supporting a range of offshore requirements from initial concept selection, preliminary / final design criteria, operational planning, through to decommissioning projects. Ian will be based in Aberdeen.
Dr Sarah Taws - Senior Metocean Consultant - joins ABPmer from Fugro Great Britain Marine Limited where she was a Senior Oceanographer (Metocean Modelling and Analysis Division). Sarah has been responsible for project management, data analysis and deliverable preparation for a wide range of metocean projects and brings with her extensive international experience of determining offshore design criteria for a range of marine sectors as well as software development. She will be based at ABPmer’s offices in Southampton.

ABPmer’s metocean information service, SEASTATES was developed a decade ago to provide market leading data and analysis. Its databases provide validated historic metocean data back to 1979.
Using this long time-series, ABPmer’s Metocean team provides metocean statistics and weather downtime analysis for anywhere in the world. The team’s advice has been applied to everything from designing offshore structures, the planning of operational and construction weather windows through to tactical strategies for elite yacht racing.
