Assisting ABP Newport with further wind turbine
In recent months, ABPmer has been supporting ABP Newport’s feasibility studies regarding the installation of a second wind turbine on the port estate.
In June 2014, ABP Newport began generating its own electricity following the commissioning of a 2.3mw turbine. The turbine supplies all of the power required by ABP to operate the Port of Newport with excess power used to supply other companies operating on the port as well as being exported to the National Grid.
ABPmer led the successful planning application for the original ABP Newport wind turbine, from the initial screening stage through to the environmental reporting, co-ordinating with subcontractors and regulators, preparing and submitting the planning application and discharging consent conditions.
Impact assessment and project consenting are core areas of ABPmer’s work and we have a track record of providing and obtaining the necessary documentation and licences to underpin a project’s planning application, as well as leading or supporting Environmental Impact Assessments and Appropriate Assessments.
