SEASTATES – more than weather downtime
ABPmer’s SEASTATES service provides high quality metocean information that characterises past (back to 1979) and near-future wave environments to a higher spatial and temporal resolution than other market products.
To make its predictions SEASTATES, our metocean information service, combines forecast data with in-house regional models and real-time observations. These forecasts are used across the marine and coastal sector and can be freely accessed at our SEASTATES microsite.
SEASTATES has expanded to include many analysis tools, and now includes a tide and surge model to provide even more detailed characterisations of the marine environment. Read about our tide and surge model here
Whilst SEASTATES is probably best known for the related weather downtime express service, SEASTATES metocean information is also routinely used to inform:
- Coastal management options
- Feasibility assessments
- Landfall assessment studies
- Offshore operations and route planning
- Preliminary and detailed design
- Site selection
Recent commissions include assisting with the design of a number of marine structures and resource mapping for an offshore renewable device.
